SERENA WILLIAMS - WILLIAMS SISTER SHOT DEAD

The eldest sister of tennis superstars VENUS and SERENA WILLIAMS has been shot dead in Los Angeles.

YETUNDE PRICE, 31, died shortly after midnight this morning (14SEP03) following a confrontation with residents at a house in the southern suburb of Compton, California - about 32 kilometres (20 miles) south of Los Angeles.

Reports claim several gunshots had been heard and when police turned up at the residence they found three people barricaded inside.

Price died later in hospital from gunshot wounds she received at the scene. Detectives are currently investigating the shooting, but as yet no arrests have been made.

The five Williams sisters lived in Compton before moving to Florida where Venus and Serena developed their talent as tennis stars.
