Struggling pop star HOLLY VALANCE is eyeing up a change of career - she wants to secure a part in a "gritty, art-house" movie.

The former soap star has seen her second album STATE OF MIND fail to make an impact on the charts following its release earlier this month (NOV03), and has suffered repeated media criticism of her scantily clad image.

However, Valance now wants to return to acting - as soon as she gets a suitable script which doesn't just emphasise her looks.

She explains, "I've read lots of scripts but nothing interesting. I get sent so many girly scripts to read. It would be all too easy to take the obvious roles but I need something raw, something where I don't have people faffing around doing my hair and make-up, something in which I don't have to look perfect.

"I really want to do something gritty, something art-house, something offbeat. I'd just like to be given a chance. If I f***ed it up, so be it."
