R+B pin-up USHER has hit back at reports he's at war with old pal JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE after the former 'N SYNC star was crowned "the new King of Pop" in music bible ROLLING STONE.

The YEAH! singer swears he and Timberlake will always be good friends because they respect each others' talents, and he's keen to end rumours of a fight.

Speaking to the BOSTON GLOBE newspaper at the weekend (21-22AUG04), Usher said, "I'm not in competition with Justin. I'm not in competition with anyone but myself.

"I'm not looking for that bad-boy image, I'm not a person who goes out looking for trouble."
