Cocky R+B hunk USHER is elated with, but not surprised by, the phenomenal success of his album CONFESSIONS - because he "knew it would be big".

The YEAH! singer's latest disc shifted an impressive 1.1 million copies in its first week of release, making it the biggest opening for an R+B album ever.

He says, "I knew that it would be big and I went for it with a positive mind knowing that we put together great work. The people have to be the judge - they like it, obviously.

"I've been working for the last 10 years at building up to this moment.

"This is the first time that I've ever had a number one album, although I've had a lot of number one records. Actually, I had a number one album in the UK before but in America this is my first one."
