USHER has served up a chart surprise in America by keeping JANET JACKSON off the top of the BILLBOARD albums list.

The YEAH singer's CONFESSIONS album had another strong week on the chart, after crashing in at number one a week ago (31MAR04) with sales of 1.1 million.

Although he managed less than half that in his second week on release, his 486,000 sales mark was 100,000 more than that of Jackson's new album DAMITA JO.

Janet's new album debuted at number two with 381,000 copies sold in its first week.

Other album debuts in the new top 10 come from LIL' FLIP, JKWON, ERIC CLAPTON and AEROSMITH.
