British alternative rockers TURIN BREAKS are taking up busking - in a bid to promote the legalisation of the musical art form.

The MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE-nominated EMERGENCY 72 singers will play acoustic versions of the hits PAINKILLER and AVERAGE MAN at London's Canary Wharf tube station to help launch a scheme to promote legal busking on the London underground.

The band will play on 19 May (03) at 10am for the start of a 16-week busking trial.

Busking will be allowed at 25 official venues in 12 tube stations across London, including Charing Cross and Oxford Circus.
