CHRIS TOMLIN - TOMLIN LEADS DOVE AWARDS

NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY

Gospel star CHRIS TOMLIN was the big winner at last night's (05APR06) Dove Awards, taking home five accolades from the Gospel Music Association's annual ceremony. Tomlin was named Artist Of The Year, Male Vocalist Of The Year, Special Event Album for MUSIC INSPIRED BY THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE and Song Of The Year and Worship Song Of The Year for HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD. Accepting one of his trophies, Tomlin said, "I tried out in college for the singing group and the director said, 'You'll do anything in life but sing, Chris.' So this is pretty cool. I never felt like a great singer, but if God could use this voice to lead people to worship God, then I'm grateful for that." Other winners at the glitzy ceremony at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee include DAVID CROWDER - who picked up three gongs - NATALIE GRANT, STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN and AMERICAN IDOL winner CARRIE UNDERWOOD.
