O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? star TIM BLAKE NELSON has made his dining table a special place - by having all of his feasting guests sign it before they leave.

Nelson, who lives in New York with his wife LISA and their sons TEDDY and HENRY, religiously eats his meals with his family around the table at 6.30pm - and if friends join them, they're asked to leave their mark.

He says, "When my wife and I were married, the rabbi gave a speech about the importance of a table where people come together over a common need.

"We put the dining room table in the centre of the home. Whenever anybody comes over to eat, they sign the bottom."
