RADIOHEAD frontman THOM YORKE reckons people read too much into his lyrics - many even think new album HAIL TO THE THIEF is anti-American.

The PARANOID ANDROID singer also claims that just one or two quotes can start a speculative story that soon turns into an avalanche.

Thom says, "My experience is that, the more people get our music, the more they feel it, the less they feel the need to analyse the lyrics.

"I mean, with Hail To The Thief, the whole thing about it being political is a bit far-fetched. I keep reading stuff now about how this album is all about politics and anti-America just because of the title and one or two quotes I gave.

"People overreact, read things into stuff, look for an angle."
