THE STREETS star MIKE SKINNER recorded a secret duet with COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN - although the rapper insists the song will never be heard.

The FIT BUT YOU KNOW IT singer approached new father Martin to sing on a song for The Streets' sophomore album A GRAND DON'T COME FOR FREE, much to the disgust of Coldplay's record company PARLOPHONE.

He says, "I got him to sing on it, but his record company wouldn't allow it in the end. I honestly don't know why."

And Skinner has laughed off claims mainstream Coldplay would clash with his underground following.

He explains, "When you're at a festival and 20,000 people are singing YELLOW, that's pretty beautiful.

"I saw the track that he sang on as a horrible story in my life played out to this 'everyman' music in the background, the music is becoming part of the soundtrack of my life as it does everyone else's."
