THE ROLLING STONES were subjected to a five-second tape delay in their Super Bowl half-time show last night (05FEB06), over fears a repeat of JANET JACKSON's infamous wardrobe malfunction at the American football event two years ago would mar proceedings.

The rockers had two sexually suggestive lyrics cut out of their songs START ME UP and ROUGH JUSTICE on the ABC Sunday broadcast (05FEB06). Jackson's controversial nipple exposure caused the network to receive thousands of complaints from viewers in 2004.

SIR MICK JAGGER's band only escaped with one hit untouched by editors, as their classic track (I CAN'T GET NO) SATISFACTION brought their three song set to a rousing close, along with a blown kiss from the 62-year-old frontman.

The Detroit, Michigan, sporting extravaganza also boasted a host of local talent including soul legend ARETHA FRANKLIN finishing with the US national anthem and STEVIE WONDER, who sang a medley of his hits alongside JOSS STONE, JOHN LEGEND and INDIE.ARIE.
