STEPHEN CHOW STORIES

Martial arts movie THE PROMISE has broken Chinese box office records after taking $9 million (GBP5.1 million) in its first four days on release.

The previous record was held by STEPHEN CHOW's internationally acclaimed KUNG FU HUSTLE.

The Promise, directed by CHEN KAIGE, reportedly had a budget of $42 million (GBP23.7 million) and has been nominated for a Golden Globe as well as being China's Oscars entry for Best Foreign Film.
