JAMES SPADER - THE PRACTICE IS A BLUR FOR SPADER

Short-sighted actor JAMES SPADER spends his days in a blur - because the writers on hit legal drama THE PRACTICE don't like his character wearing glasses.
The SECRETARY star wore his spectacles when he made his debut as ALAN SHORE in The Practice earlier this year (03), but producers hated his look.
Spader says, "In the first episode I wore glasses and I thought, 'Great, I'm going to be able to see,' because my eyes don't tolerate contact lenses.
"If I can get a character to wear glasses, I like it. I said, 'Wouldn't it be great if he wore glasses, because it would be nice if I could actually see during the course of the filming.'
"I thought it was fine but they said, 'No with the glasses,' so now all day everything's a complete blur. At the end of the day I have a headache.
"Then I'll put on the glasses in between the set ups, so, if you look very closely at my scenes in close up, there'll be two marks (on my nose)."
