Flamboyant rockers THE DARKNESS are determined to keep it real and sing about subjects their fans can relate to.

Despite aping legendary excessive rockers like AEROSMITH and MOTLEY CRUE, the I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE band insist they'll never boast of a gargantuan drug habit or a life of excess.

Singer JUSTIN HAWKINS says, "I don't want to be an aspirational band. I want people to be able to relate to what I'm singing about.

"We're not going to be showing off about the size of the LEAR JET we're travelling in and how many drugs we take, or the thousands of women we have sex with.

"I find all that a bit sad really."
