The Beach Boys Face Legal Action Over Memorabilia Claim
Pop legends THE BEACH BOYS are facing legal action after incorrectly claiming rare memorabilia being sold at auction was stolen from them.
The PET SOUNDS hitmakers threatened a civil suit against auction house Cooper Owen, alleging 28 lots intended for sale in October (05) - including the original arrangement sheets for GOOD VIBRATIONS and GOD ONLY KNOWS, both with handwritten notes by songwriter BRIAN WILSON - were stolen.
But a subsequent investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has concluded there was no evidence the items had been stolen, forcing The Beach Boys to abandon their lawsuit.
Lawyer GARY W POLLACK, who represents the owner of the collection which was withdrawn from auction, has warned Brother Records Inc - The Beach Boys' record label - his client is planning to sue for slander, libel and interference with international business relationship.
