GWYNETH PALTROW - SUPERSTITIOUS PALTROW RELUCTANT TO TALK ABOUT PREGNANCY

OSCAR-winning actress GWYNETH PALTROW has decided to remain tight-lipped about the specifics of her pregnancy - because she thinks it's bad luck to talk about it too much.

The SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE star, who is expecting her first child with COLDPLAY frontman boyfriend CHRIS MARTIN, appeared in her first ever interview last night (04DEC03) since breaking the good news earlier this week (ends05DEC03).

However, while Gwyneth was willing to share her joy with the TONIGHT SHOW's JAY LENO, she refused to go into too much detail.

Wearing boots and a tight black dress showing just a hint of her developing baby, she said, "The Jewish part of me is superstitious about talking about it and answering specific questions.

"So when people say, 'Are you going to find out the sex?' or 'Do you have any weird food cravings?' I don't want to answer those questions.

"I touch wood and I pinch my stomach - it's a good luck thing. Now there's a lot more to pinch."

The radiant actress says the weirdest part of her pregnancy is being congratulated by complete strangers.

She added, "It's a very strange thing because, you know, its been a secret for a while. And then we thought, 'Well, we'll tell everybody and just make a nice clean statement.'"

But the publicity-shy actress says she finds the attention difficult to deal with, explaining, "I like to keep my private life to myself, so it's strange.

"There are all these strangers who are like, 'Congratulations.' And I'm like 'Oh'. It's a little bit weird but it's lovely that people care. It's great but it's strange."
