SUPER SIZE ME - SUPERSIZE ME MADE SPURLOCK SOLVENT

NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY

MORGAN SPURLOCK was on the brink of bankruptcy when the success of SUPER SIZE ME allowed him to pay off his creditors and treat his friends and family to breakfast to celebrate his OSCAR nomination.

The 34-year-old's investigation into America's growing obesity problem and its links to the fast food industry is in the running for Best Documentary at next month's (FEB05) ACADEMY AWARDS.

Spurlock told gossip website PAGESIX.COM, "When we were nominated, I called my friends and family and took them all to Balthazar (New York restaurant) for champagne breakfast. The biggest thrill being I could pick up the cheque.

"Before this movie, I owed a quarter of a million dollars. My credit cards were over. I had absolutely no money. I'm most grateful for having made enough to not be in debt. Now, when my cell rings, I don't shake because I know it isn't somebody dunning (demanding payment from) me."
