MERYL STREEP - STREEP UPSET ABOUT MISSING COSTUMES

MERYL STREEP regrets not hoarding all the costumes she has worn in movies after realising her daughter has taken all her favourite gowns. The actress never realised that she could have had it written in her contract that all the clothes she wears on a film set automatically become hers after the film has wrapped - and now she's distraught that she has hardly any keepsakes left. She moans, "GLENN CLOSE told me, 'I have everything that I've ever worn and a warehouse on the property and it's temperature controlled.' And I thought, 'Why didn't I do that?' I did not think ahead. "I do have the boots from SILKWOOD. I have a kokoi (sarong) from OUT OF AFRICA. I have one thing from everything. "But then my daughter's discovered vintage clothing and she's gone in with her friends and everything is gone. I got really upset. I started to cry when I realised they'd taken all my movie clothes. I don't have anything." But Streep has a positive philosophy for her disappearing wardrobe of memories: "It's kind of Zen because this ephemeral thing really only exists when it happened. You've just got to giggle and give in."
