DINO DE LAURENTIIS - STREEP SNUBBED BY DE LAURENTIIS FOR BEING TOO UGLY

Movie mogul DINO DE LAURENTIIS (corr) once snubbed MERYL STREEP for a film role because he thought she was too ugly.

The Italian film great was persuaded to meet Streep by his son DINO JR, a huge fan, 30 years ago - but it didn't go well and she didn't get the part.

Streep recalls, "The young man was very excited and his father said something in Italian. He thought I didn't understand Italian, but I understood everything.

"He basically said, `She's ugly, why did you bring me this thing?'"
