MERYL STREEP - STREEP HONOURS PAL NICHOLS

MERYL STREEP has sent an early Valentine to movie-maker MIKE NICHOLS in the pages of Hollywood trade paper DAILY VARIETY.

The actress, who starred in Nichols' acclaimed multi-GOLDEN GLOBE-winning TV movie ANGELS IN AMERICA, has congratulated the movie-maker on his DIRECTORS GUILD OF AMERICA (DGA) Lifetime Achievement honour with a touching full-page ad.

In the ad, which appears in today's (06FEB04) Variety, she writes "SEPARATED AT BIRTH? TOGETHER FOREVER AT WOK! LOVE AND CONGRATULATIONS, MERYL."

The message also comes with a photograph of Streep with Nichols, shaped as a heart.

Nichols picks up his honour at the DGA Awards in Hollywood tomorrow night (07FEB04).
