Soul sensation JOSS STONE has hailed her father as the driving force behind her singing career, insisting he taught her the value of hard work.

The YOU HAD ME hitmaker, 18, resented her patriarch's domineering attitude during her childhood, but admits she is brimming with gratitude now.

And she urges every parent to treat their children the same.

She says, "If Dad got home and we were watching TV, we'd get a b**locking.

"We had to be cleaning or vacuuming or something.

"At the time I was like, 'He's such an a**hole. I just want to watch FRIENDS.' But if I'd been lazy as I wanted, I wouldn't be here now.

"When children are mean and horrible, I blame the parents. Mine raised good people, which is such an achievement."
