REM - STIPE HONOURED AS A HUMANITARIAN

REM star MICHAEL STIPE was honoured for his humanitarian work in New York on Tuesday night (25APR06) as starry pals lined up to pay tribute. The SHINY HAPPY PEOPLE singer was the guest of honour at the Can-Do Awards Dinner, where he was recognised for his continuing support to help end hunger at the Food Bank. COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN and his wife GWYNETH PALTROW and BEASTIE BOYS star MIKE D were among those in attendance. The highlight of the night came when Stipe's heroine PATTI SMITH performed live and dedicated her song WING to the rocker.
