Sting's 'Dream' Come True
STING was made a COMMANDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE by QUEEN ELIZABETH II at BUCKINGHAM PALACE yesterday (9OCT03) - and described the experience as "a dream".
The 52-year-old, real name GORDON SUMNER, was awarded the honour for his services to music.
He said after the ceremony, "It's a bit like a dream.
"I was nervous. I've never met the Queen before."
The former POLICE frontman, who was at the palace with wife TRUDIE STYLER and daughters COCO, 13, and KATE, 21, refused to divulge what words he shared with the monarch, but doubted she was a fan of his music.
He jokes, "I'd be surprised if she knows my music, but there's always hope."
