GWEN STEFANI was so nervous and shocked when she met MICHAEL JACKSON for the first time, she forgot to thank him for handing her an award.

The NO DOUBT singer admits she has never had a proper chat with her hero even though she's been on stage with him and visited his NEVERLAND RANCH home in California.

She says, "That was a bizarre day. We rented a tourbus so we could all go up together. The weird part for me was the host was not there.

"I always regretted the fact that he gave us an award last year and I was in such shock that I forgot to say thank you or hug him or acknowledge him."
