British actor JASON STATHAM is reluctant to marry his longtime lover KELLY BROOK - because it may "jinx" the strong union they've created.

The ITALIAN JOB star believes remaining unmarried to the SMALLVILLE beauty keeps their relationship exciting, because he knows she could walk out on him at any time.

He says, "Maybe we're just a bit lazy, but I think subconciously there's a bit of hesitation because it might jinx what we've got.

"Perhaps the fact that we're not married and she could up and leave at any time - and vice versa - keeps you fresh. But I'm not saying marriage is a bad thing."
