TYRA BANKS - STAR'S STYLIST JAILED FOR THEFT

A stylist whose clients included SEAN 'P DIDDY' COMBS, QUEEN LATIFAH, PINK, SNOOP DOGG, CARLOS SANTANA and TYRA BANKS has been sentenced to three years imprisonment after admitting to stealing more than $1 million (GBP625,000) in jewellery.

DEREK KHAN, 45, pleaded guilty yesterday (3SEP03) to pawning the jewels he borrowed from New York stores including HARRY WINSTON and PIAGET.

The stylist was arrested after he failed to hand back jewellery he borrowed between November last year (02) and February (03) "for exhibition, advertisement and marketing purposes".

And, despite the jewellery's value being "in excess of $1 million (GBP625,000)", Kahn was paid an amount "in the low six figures" when he pawned the borrowed items - including watches, rings and necklaces.

Speaking outside the New York court prior to sentencing Khan - who helped police retrieve some of the jewels - said, "The worst part is disappointing people who have trusted me."
