A French secret agent is under pressure to reveal what could be crucial evidence regarding the death of British royal DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES in a car accident in Paris, France in 1997.

The unnamed undercover figure works within French intelligence agency Directions Centrale Des Renseignements Generaux, which corresponds with Special Branch in Britain and the FBI in the US.

The spy spoke to Diana's driver HENRI PAUL - who was also killed in the crash - less than an hour before the tragedy occurred.

Officials at Scotland Yard in London are desperate to ascertain whether the agent briefed Paul on which route to take before he drove the Princess and her lover DODI AL FAYED to their doom.

A legal expert tells British newspaper the Daily Express, "There is much interest in England in speaking to this agent.

"Moves are being made through diplomatic and legal channels to speak to the agent but it may take months."
