American rapper SNOOP DOGG will attend a rally to protest against the planned execution of former gang leader STANLEY 'TOOKIE' WILLIAMS at California's San Quentin State Prison on Saturday (19NOV05).

Williams, 51, who founded the notorious Crips gang, is scheduled to be killed by lethal injection on 13 December (05) for the murder of four people in Los Angeles, in 1979.

But supporters believe Williams' subsequent Nobel Peace Prize nominations for his work to stop young people from forming gangs, should exonerate him of previous offences and are arranging rallies around the state in a bid to lobby officials.

The SIGNS hitmaker, real name CALVIN BROADUS, is desperate to visit his one-time friend but has so far been denied access because of his own criminal record.

San Quentin spokesman Vernell Crittendon says, "We were unable to provide him with a security clearance because of his arrest history."
