LATEST: SLIPKNOT would have split if they hadn't agreed to take a break next year, according to frontman COREY TAYLOR.

After 30 long months making and promoting their latest album VOL 3: THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES, Taylor claims the band was at breaking point and needed time apart.

The 32-year-old, who plans to spend the time working with side project STONE SOUR, says, "Including recording the album, this Slipknot cycle has been two-and-and-a-half years and you get to the point where you're played into the f**king ground.

"If you don't get away from it and let it become new again after a good long break, then you're going to kill yourself and you'll break up."
