THE CORAL frontman JAMES SKELLY has no desire to sound anything like FRANZ FERDINAND - insisting he'd rather sell no albums than be like the chart-topping Scots.

Skelly admits his band are up against stiff competition in the UK charts, but he'd rather sound like defunct group THE BETA BAND than Franz Ferdinand.

He tells London's TIME OUT magazine, "The climate's changed since we first came out. There's a guitar band in the charts every week now and I do want us to sell more.

"But you don't have to sell a million. I'd still rather have been in The Beta Band, released the records they released and hardly sold anything than been in Franz Ferdinand and sold what they did."
