LATEST: Irish movie-maker JIM SHERIDAN is learning to live with the fact that posters for his new 50 CENT film have been banned - as long as politicians take a closer look at how easy it is to get a gun in America.
Paramount Pictures bosses removed the billboards, featuring movie newcomer 50 Cent holding a pistol in one hand and a microphone in the other, after protests from parenting groups.
Sheridan was initially enraged with the act but he accepts the posters could give the wrong idea about his gritty new film.
The MY LEFT FOOT director says, "The poster thing surprised me. People were complaining about a gun when nearly every American film is promoted with guns.
"It feels kind of crazy to be talking about cardboard guns when there are so many real ones.
"(But) it's (the billboard controversy) OK. I'm conscious of why people are worried. We don't want to be promoting the idea that you just get a gun and that solves your life. The film kind of says the opposite."
