HAPPY MONDAYS singer SHAUN RYDER has advised estranged THE LIBERTINES singer-songwriter PETE DOHERTY to kick his drug habit before it's too late.

The STEP ON star still carries around the tag of a drug and party animal after his band hit the headlines during the 1980s and 1990s with their hedonistic behaviour. He hopes that the FOR LOVERS wildman can get his career back on track.

Ryder says, "Don't let your reputation follow you around like a bad smell all your life. It's 20 years since I got my drugged-up 'bad boy' image, yet people still expect me to be popping ecstasy. I want to go to f**king bed.

"Heroin doesn't have to be a life sentence. Most musician have gone through it at some point... He should focus on the music."
