Actress JANE SEYMOUR battled a secret insomnia problem after experiencing seconds of death in 1987.

The Brit was 36 when she suffered an anaphylactic shock while filming in Madrid, Spain and found herself floating above her body in an out-of-body experience.

The near-death moment made Seymour realise she took too much of her life for granted and vowed to live better if she survived - and that cost her sleep.

She says, "I was terrified of ever going to sleep after that. I was afraid if I closed my eyes that I'd leave my body, so it took me a while to get past that one."

Seymour now admits she's thankful for the moment of clarity - because she'd never have lived such a fulfilling life if she hadn't experienced death.

She adds, "I consider myself actually lucky to have had this experience because I see a lot of people waste their lives.

"A great, great friend of mine was CHRISTOPHER REEVE and we used to share this experience - what a gift it was, in a way, to have had something traumatic happen because you then had these amazing opportunities that came your way, because there were no barriers.

"There was no sort of, 'You can't do this... You can just go, 'Why not? Let's try it.'"
