Legendary director MARTIN SCORSESE has accepted the honorary presidency of the VIENNA FILM MUSEUM.
The 62-year-old was offered the prestigious position for helping create an American foundation dedicated to conserving film documents in 1990, as well as his celebrated body of 40 movies, which include TAXI DRIVER, RAGING BULL and THE AVIATOR.
Scorsese says of the Vienna Film Museum's impressive archive of 20,000 art and independently produced films: "Its remarkable collection, the creativity of its programming and its unique sense of cinema have made it a model for the rest of the world."
The honour marks a successful week for Scorsese, after The Aviator was named Best Drama at last weekend's GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS (16JAN05).
