SCISSOR SISTERS singer ANA LYNCH is furious that her band's funky rock/pop music has been branded "gay".

The LAURA star - nicknamed ANA MATRONIC for her robot circuitry tattoo - is the only "straight" member of the group, but refuses to be compared to camp bands like THE VILLAGE PEOPLE because she detests "homosexual tunes".

Lynch says, "It's really dismissive and really insulting.

"I mean, 'Do you make gay music?' What the f*** does gay music sound like?"

Band member JASON SELLARDS - stage-name JAKE SHEARS - adds, "Some writers like to call us The Village People, which I hate."

"Y'know, before the album came out, all people could write about was that we were gay and a joke and a fashion band.

"And the band came out and it's, 'Oh, it's actually a decent album'.

"Then there are the people that make a point of saying that we're not all gay. Like, one rotten gay and it spoils the bunch.

"Can you imagine me trying to be a closet case? Like, can you imagine?"
