MEG RYAN - RYAN DEFENDS ROMANTIC COMEDY PREFERENCE

Hollywood romance queen MEG RYAN is unrepentant about her many roles in romantic comedies - because she loves to make them.

The SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE star will be seen next in JANE CAMPION's IN THE CUT - where she bares all in raunchy sex scenes with co-star MARK RUFFALO - but remains a committed fan of the genre which shot her to fame.

And Meg insists that despite her public's perception, she's never stuck to comedy.

She says, "I love doing comedies. I needed a break for a little while, but I love it.

"I come to these rooms all the time and they say, 'This is a departure'. Except I've done like 30 movies and I've done seven romantic comedies. So you all can say what you want. I don't care."
