Hollywood director DAVID O RUSSELL made certain he had fun on the set of his most recent movie I (HEART) HUCKABEES, after he fell out with GEORGE CLOONEY on the set of his last film, THREE KINGS.
Russell was inspired to make a quirky film after a "stressful" Three Kings shoot, when he watched I (Heart) Huckabees star JASON SCHWARTZMAN in 1998 cult classic RUSHMORE.
Russell tells British magazine EMPIRE, "Three Kings had this huge, epic scale, but had to be made on a budget of about $36 million (GBP20 million).
"So it was a lot of pressure and a lot of stress. And the environment wasn't exactly what I'd call the most fun one to be making a movie in.
"Then, when I was in my trailer watching Jason Schwartzman in Rushmore, I suddenly thought, 'That's what I want to be doing.'
"Also, as you know, George Clooney and I famously didn't get along. I don't want to rehash the whole story, but suffice to say that, today, I wouldn't do it.
"I only want to work with people who I think I'm going to love working with."
