Former BUSH rocker GAVIN ROSSDALE has secured a superstar collaborator for his new supergroup's first album - his wife GWEN STEFANI.

Rossdale has united with former HELMET stars PAGE HAMILTON and CHRIS TRAYNORT to form INSTITUTE, and he is determined to ditch the "soft" image he had with Bush, and start championing a heavier sound.

He explains, "I didn't want to do a softer record than Bush, because I thought that would be maybe more expected.

"I thought what would be cooler would be to do something a little bit heavier, a little stronger. I wanted to make a more forceful record."

But the British star is aware his new project might not be a hit with everyone, despite the inclusion of his popular spouse.

He adds, "I'm really excited, but I'm a little bit nervous.

"You're kind of putting your head right out the window for people to either throw eggs at or wave at and say nice things."
