ROLLING STONES star CHUCK LEAVELL is returning to school today (26APR06) - to read stories to students affected by last year's (05) hurricanes Rita and Katrina. The keyboard player will read his own children's book, THE TREE FARMER, to pupils at DeLisle/Pass Christian Elementary School. He says, "All of the libraries and schools that were devastated in the hurricanes are suffering for the books that they need to get to children and I am very proud to be a part of this to restore it." Approximately 100,000 new books will be given to students though a collaboration between The Abundant Forests Alliance and First Book, to replenish destroyed libraries. First Book spokeswoman JANE ROBINSON says, "For the kids that lost everything, the books serve multiple categories. It allows their imagination to begin to rise up again. It's something new. It makes them smile. It creates a quiet hope for the future because they are now able to have something brand new."
