ROBBIE WILLIAMS' career was saved by his 1997 hit ANGELS - as it rocketed him to success just as his label was about to dump him.

The 31-year-old pop star insists the romantic track was the reason his company gave him one last chance.

He says, "Without that song I would not be here now.

"People have told me since that there were memos around the record company, 'Let's drop him, let's drop him'.

"And then they decided to give it one last go with Angels. I'm glad they did."
