CHRIS REA sometimes wishes he wasn't a professional musician, because his constant wish to be creative can leave him feeling depressed.

The veteran British rocker, who recently underwent a crucial operation to remove his pancreas, is keen to point out the difference between being creative and having the skills to see creativity through.

He says, "People think that creativity is a talent. But it's not.

"If you are creative, then it works against you when you can't switch it off.

"Being in hospital for 16 weeks and not eating for half that time, the pain and sickness... that's when creativity makes your life a nightmare, because it works in a depressive way. It creates anxiety."
