Oscar-winning film-maker SYDNEY POLLACK has been chosen to receive the 2006 American Society of Cinematographers' (ASC) Board of Governors Award.

Pollack, 71, will be honoured during the 20th annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on 26 February (06).

The award is presented annually to an individual who has advanced the art of film-making.
