Movie mogul SYDNEY POLLACK only agrees to make a film if he can be bothered to work with its potential stars.
The acclaimed TOOTSIE director can't abide making movies with people he doesn't like - and he'd prefer to make a bad film with good people than a great film with actors he dislikes.
He explains, "The decision to make the film as a film-maker to me is a hunch of whether I'm going to want to have dinner and breakfast with these people for the next two years. Are their problems worth my worrying for two years?
"Sometimes you see something that can be terrifically entertaining for two hours; I would love to go see the movie, but, as a grown man, do I want to be preoccupied with that for two years? I feel silly.
"I pick something where I don't feel stupid, where I say... 'I like this woman and I like this man.'"
