When the Disney-Pixar merger is completed, Pixar founder and creative chief
John Lasseter will have the authority to greenlight all animated features,
according to an SEC filing Thursday. However, Lasseter's contract with Pixar --
which is being picked up by Disney -- will expire in five years. He is paid
$2.5 million annually with 5-percent annual increases, but may attempt to
negotiate a longer pact if the acquisition is approved, the Los Angeles
Times observed. The filing also notes that the acquisition of Pixar would
be jeopardized if Lasseter or Pixar President Ed Catmull or Disney CEO Robert
Iger quit or died.
