Pink Floyd Refuse To Make Comeback

Rock legends PINK FLOYD have refused to make a comeback - despite the success of their one-off reunion for Saturday's (02JUL05) star-studded London Live 8 concert.

The band - ROGER WATERS, DAVE GILMOUR, NICK MASON and RICHARD WRIGHT - reunited for their first performance in 24 years, and thrilled fans by playing four hit tracks including MONEY and WISH YOU WERE HERE.

But the foursome insist they will never perform together again, because they are too old.

Mason said, "Why did we reform? It's a damn good way of spending a weekend."

But when asked if the reunion was a once-in-a-lifetime event, Gilmour replied, "Yes."

Too Old? What a lame excuse. Waters has just finished his opera and Gilmour is doing a solo album as we speak. This is not what people who are too old to play music do, is it? A better time to start a reformed floyd record would be hard to find. Waters could start writing material now...in fact he probably has enough sitting around to furnish the other floydians with something to be getting on with. Richard wright could send roger a few nice pieces of music to put lyrics to and if Dave Gilmour ever wants to write anything like the quality of comfortably numb again he needs Waters to write the lyrics...perhaps he should even consider holding back a few tracks from his solo record for Roger to look over. A truly combined album with wrting from Waters, Wright and Gilmour has the potential to be as good as Dark Side and, In my honest opinion, they would do the best they've ever done. I think if the writing from the Division Bell had Roger Waters culling his way through the mediocrity and adding some real lyrics, and if David Gilmour had taken Amused to Death and hacked out the mediocre tracks and added in his soaring guitar and beautiful vocal phrasing...just imagine the possibilities. Add in a couple of wonderful piano pieces by Rick Wright and you have the makings of something every bit as good as anything they've ever done. As a four piece, these guys are simply the best act ever. In pieces they are good, still very good, but always somehow lacking. The real tragedy is that one of them is bound to pass away in the next 10 years and then we can never, ever go back. Roger, Dave, Rick, Nick! Forget doing it for the public (of course we want it...always have), or doing it for the money (bound to be the biggest grossing tour/album ever)...or even doing it because you'd make the best Music ever. Do it for each other, and do it because you still CAN.

i think thats b.s..i mean, come on,the stones are touring again.among many otehrs, and the stones are more burnt out then floyd!i mean, they should set their differences aside(as they did for live 8)and give the people what they want for once.i mean, sure its tough to do a world tour, but do it at their own pace,i mean, who cares how long it takes to get to your city, atleast its happening.I SAY WE ALL MAKE A CHAIN HOLDING HANDS GOING ACROSS THE ATLANTIC ON BOATS FROM US TO THE UK AND NOT BREAK IT UNTIL THEY TOUR AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!...ok,that may be extreme, but who cares!its pink fricken floyd!
