LATEST: THE LIBERTINES singer PETE DOHERTY has fled to Thailand in a last ditch bid to beat his addiction to drugs, after his mum begged him to get help.

Friends feared for the singer-songwriter after he walked out of London rehab hospital THE PRIORY - where he was being treated for his addiction to crack cocaine - for the second time yesterday (7JUN04).

But Doherty has revealed he jetted off to Thailand after his mum confronted him about his drug use.

He writes on his website BABYSHAMBLES.COM, "She gave me a good walloping and then a cuddle, took all my shoes and all my stashes of drugs."
