GWYNETH PALTROW - PALTROW TO PUSH POSH PRAM

Comedienne ELLEN DeGENERES surprised pregnant actress GWYNETH PALTROW with one of her first baby gifts - a pricey pram straight from the shores of Britain.

OSCAR-winning beauty Paltrow - who announced last week (ends05DEC03) that she and her COLDPLAY frontman beau CHRIS MARTIN are expecting their first child together in the summer (04) - made an appearance on DeGeneres' chat show this morning (08DEC03), where she was presented with the $1,145 (GBP850) gift, made by Yorkshire-based SILVER CROSS.

DeGeneres told a stunned Paltrow, "Look how smooth a ride that is! And the paparazzi can't get to it 'cause it's all covered up in there. Isn't that great? THE QUEEN uses these things!"

Celebrities who favour the plush handmade pram, which has been in production since 1877, include CATHERINE ZETA-JONES, VICTORIA BECKHAM, SADIE FROST, KATE MOSS, STEFFI GRAF, ELIZABETH HURLEY and BROOKE SHIELDS.

DeGeneres also gave Paltrow an ELLEN baby hat and booties.
