An American woman accused of illegally sharing music online is refusing to hand over her internet records - arguing the music industry's investigation of her online activities was unconstitutional.
Lawyers for the New Yorker - who has only been named as 'NYCFASHIONGIRL' - argue the RECORDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (RIAA) searched her files illegally.
The lawyers are now preparing a lawsuit and have requested a federal magistrate delay ordering her internet service provider to hand over her name and address to the RIAA.
The RIAA alleges the woman has offered more than 900 songs by artists including THE ROLLING STONES and MICHAEL JACKSON, and the movie PRETTY WOMAN.
RIAA vice-president MATT OPPENHEIM dismisses nycfashiongirl's defence as "surprisingly shallow".
