Movie actor JERRY O'CONNELL concedes his new film KANGAROO JACK stereotypes Australians as hard drinkers - but argues the American characters are worse.

The comedy features two Americans sent to Australia to deliver money to the mob, and was a big hit in the US on its release, taking $22 million (GBP17 million) in the first three days.

O'Connell says, "I don't want to say it generalises and stereotypes, but yes (veteran Australian actor) BILL HUNTER does get drunk in every scene.

"Luckily, Australians can't take offence at the lame Aussie stereotypes, because the American characters are just as puerile."
