SPANDAU BALLET - NO THEATRE FOR BALLET

Former SPANDAU BALLET star GARY KEMP has written a musical celebrating legendary Irish poet WB YEATS's life - but is furious he can't find a theatre to host it.

The GOLD star teamed up with GUY PRATT earlier this year (05) after deciding to take an intellectual approach to music - but was devastated when London theatres preferred to stage more 'popular' entertainment.

And newly highbrow Kemp has even set Yeats' masterpiece 1916 EASTER RISING to music in an effort to wow audiences.

Pratt says, "Gary knows the story of 1916 incredibly well. He just recited it from heart and we sat there and thought, yes, in Keats we have our hero.

"It was ready to go into production earlier this year, but then a whole load of lowbrow stuff started popping up around London and we couldn't get a venue."
